Sea Food Diaries - Ratnagiri - a coastal cuisine place at Chembur

One of the other restaurants that we impromptu decided to go was Ratnagiri - a coastal cuisine joint located at At Central Avenue, near Ambedkar Gardens, Chembur.

DÉCOR
It’s a no-frills eatery. As soon as you enter, there is fresh fish on ice display. Four areas are crammed with wooden tables and benches. There are two air-conditioned sections opt to sit in the family section.

FOOD
The menu boasts gaboli (fish roe), mori (shark), makul (squid), tisrya (clams), bangda (mackerel), mandeli, and kurly (small crab). Start off with the yummy, garlicky Sol kadi.
Opt for the must-try thick slab of Rawa-fried surmai, pomfret (also the tava fry option). In the tandoori section, the Fish tikka rawas is recommended. Well-made Prawn tawa masala and coconut Crab masala are a delight.

MY POINT
This is a find. But don’t go dashing across town to Chembur for it. It is worth visiting if you are in the vicinity. Traditional masalas, fresh seafood, Alcohol is served.
Cost: A big meal for two with Drinks and Coke would cost you 1500 bucks and that's excellent considering you get sea food!

Avoid going on weekends since its a mess to manage, it's overcrowded, the fishes are at times not available.
